Softball Recap: Academic Magnet Comes Up Short

Academic Magnet came into this matchup off a tough 13-run loss on April 3rd. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators by a score of 15-13 on Thursday. The Raptors just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Charlotte Kandik put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Riley Henderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Costa, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Academic Magnet's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Academic Magnet is taking a road trip to square off against Whale Branch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they will challenge First Baptist School at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
