Softball Game Preview: Cross County Thunderbirds vs. Jonesboro Hurricane

The Cross County Thunderbirds are taking a road trip to take on the Jonesboro Hurricane at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Cross County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cross County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Palestine-Wheatley by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Thunderbirds have lost by just one run.

Meanwhile, Jonesboro lost 21-12 to Buffalo Island Central on Monday.

Daniella Mejia and Justice Taylor stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mejia went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Taylor scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Arihya Quattlebaum, who scored two runs while going 1-for-5.

Cross County dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Jonesboro, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 2-2.
