Soccer Game Preview: Springtown vs. Castleberry

Springtown hasn't had much luck against Castleberry recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Springtown Porcupines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Castleberry Lions at 5:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Springtown fell victim to Lake Dallas and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, the Porcupines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 691st, while the Falcons are ranked 173rd).

Meanwhile, Castleberry entered their tilt with Lake Worth on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Bullfrogs onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

Castleberry pushed their record up to 9-1-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Springtown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1.
