Basketball Recap: Metro Tech Comes Up Short

Metro Tech played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 50-19 loss at the hands of the Agua Fria Owls. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-5.

Despite the defeat, Metro Tech had strong showings from Dianely Granados, who posted six points and five rebounds, and Mariah Price, who earned eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Granados has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Jayde Navarro also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

Agua Fria's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yohoney Castanon, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The last time Castanon's shooting accuracy was this high was back in February of 2025. Allyson Besold was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.

Metro Tech has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Agua Fria, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.

Looking ahead, Metro Tech will venture away from home to face off against Copper Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Agua Fria, they will welcome Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
