Volleyball Recap: Pescadero Starts Season with Victory at Home

Pescadero gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Fremont Christian Warriors with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-8, 25-21.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pescadero to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quill Markegard, who had 16 digs, 13 kills, and four aces. That's the most kills Markegard has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Camila Rodriguez, who had 15 digs and five aces.

They weren't the only good server: Pescadero was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Fremont Christian dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Pescadero will face off against KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 4:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Fremont Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Quarry Lane at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
