On Wednesday, Willow Glen didn't have quite enough to beat Lincoln and fell 3-2. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 25-19 in the first set.
Willow Glen started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 16-25, 25-12, 25-16, 15-9.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Gilroy sidestepped Prospect for a 3-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Gilroy who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 18-25, 25-15, 18-25, 25-13.
Gilroy's victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Willow Glen, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
Willow Glen came out on top in a nail-biter against Gilroy in their previous matchup on October 2nd, sneaking past 3-2. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Mustangs' Bella Gutierrez, who had 13 digs and five aces.
