Football Game Preview: Handley Judges vs. Jefferson Forest Cavaliers

Handley has won three straight games at home, while Jefferson Forest has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Judges will host the Cavaliers at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Handley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Liberty a 48-0 shutout. Given the Judges' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Eagles are ranked 163rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jamir Washington produced another solid performance rushing for 213 yards and two scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Handley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Forest got the win against Glass on Friday by a conclusive 33-7. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 20-0.

Handley better keep an eye on Xander Coleman. He was instrumental in Jefferson Forest's win, rushing for 86 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, while also throwing for 20 yards and one TD.

Handley's record now sits at 10-1. As for Jefferson Forest, their record is now 9-2.

Saturday's contest will pit two of the most dominant wideouts against one another: Washington and Coleman. Washington just won't slow down this season and has caught 1 touchdown while averaging 11.4 receiving yards per game. Coleman has been a dominant force too and has caught 3 touchdowns while averaging 11.7 receiving yards per game.
