Recap: Benson Bobcats vs. Willcox Cowboys

The Benson Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 57-38 fall against Willcox. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Benson of the 59-46 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the loss, Benson still got an impressive performance from Kaylei Taylor, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Taylor hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games. Adalie Lewis was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Willcox's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Bennett led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Bennett is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Mia Mungarro, who scored 19 points along with four steals.

Benson has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season. As for Willcox, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.

Benson will head out on the road to face off against Tombstone at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tombstone is coming into the match with five straight victories at home, so Benson is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Willcox will take on Empire at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Empire focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 40 on Friday.
