Nicholas County hasn't had much luck against Harrison County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bluejackets will head out to take on the Thorobreds/Fillies at 6:00 p.m. Nicholas County has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Nicholas County needed a bit of extra time to put away West Carter. They skirted past the Comets 13-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bluejackets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Sidney Sexton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching nine innings while giving up five earned (and seven unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two triples, and one double. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Peyton Boone was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mady Adams was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Nicholas County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Harrison County waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Wildcats.
Like Nicholas County, Harrison County also got a great game from a two-way player: Shyanne Ross. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ross was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Harrison County let Lexie Highlander and Jenny White run wild. Highlander went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run, while White scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That triple was Highlander's first of the season.
The win snapped Nicholas County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-11 record. As for Harrison County, they pushed their record up to 21-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Nicholas County suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Harrison County in their previous meeting on April 1st. Can the Bluejackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
