Basketball Recap: Chester Comes Up Short

Chester lost against Union County last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Chester Cyclones took a 75-60 bruising from the Union County Yellowjackets.

Union County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Gray out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. Gray's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Stewart, who went 7 of 11 en route to 18 points and four steals.

Chester's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Union County, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

After both having extra time off, Chester and Eau Claire will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Eau Claire will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Chester surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-45 defeat against Newberry on the 20th.
