Softball Game Preview: Mt. Zion Braves vs. Metamora Redbirds

The Mt. Zion Braves will venture away from home to take on the Metamora Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Mt. Zion has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Mt. Zion didn't have quite enough to beat Normal Community and fell 4-3.

Avelyn Ethell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Metamora got themselves on the board against Canton on Tuesday, but Canton never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Little Giants with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Redbirds haven't had any issues with the Little Giants recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Mt. Zion's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Metamora, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Mt. Zion beat Metamora 13-9 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
