Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Soddy Daisy's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Soddy Daisy hadn't done well against Bradley Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The game was the first time the Trojans have beaten the Bears on their field since May 8, 2019.

The result came thanks to Stephen Vickers's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Soddy Daisy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Maynor, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Braden Shell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Soddy Daisy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Bradley Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12-1.

Coming up, Soddy Daisy will welcome Rhea County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bradley Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Wilson Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
