Baseball Recap: Centaurus Drops Highest Score of Season Against Northglenn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centaurus). They never let the Northglenn Norsemen get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Saturday. The Warriors not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21, 2024.

Carter Nelson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Charlie Manning was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Centaurus is undefeated when Manning posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Parker Hilt was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Centaurus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Centaurus and bumps their season record up to 7-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Northglenn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centaurus will venture away from home to take on Legacy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northglenn, they will head out to challenge Greeley West at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
