Jai-lyn Garvin-martin leads Central to victory over Holy Cross

Recap: Central Golden Eagles vs. Holy Cross Knights

The Central Golden Eagles's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Sunday. They escaped with a win against Holy Cross by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in Massachusetts, while Holy Cross is ranked 100th in New York), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jai-lyn Garvin-martin was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Angela Hector, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Holy Cross, they bumped their record down to 6-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Holyoke at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Holy Cross, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bishop Loughlin at 6:30 p.m. Bishop Loughlin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last five matchups.
