The Wahkiakum Mules will challenge the Pomeroy Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wahkiakum is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 78-38 win over Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian. The victory was just business as usual for the Mules, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.

Jayden Stoddard was his usual excellent self, rushing for 224 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 168 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 104.5 rushing yards per game. 87 of Stoddard's passing yards were hauled in by Parker Leitz, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wahkiakum was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 411 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wahkiakum's defensive line and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Gage Robinson, Cameron Mendez, and Israel Velke, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Pomeroy faced Tulalip Heritage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Pirates claimed a resounding 86-22 win over the Hawks. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Pirates just coasted through the last quarter.
Wahkiakum better keep an eye on Kyzer Herres. He was instrumental in Pomeroy's win, rushing for 247 yards and six scores while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. Treyton Kimble was another major influence, as he rushed for 90 yards and ran in a TD.
Wahkiakum's record now sits at 10-0. As for Pomeroy, their record is now 10-1.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Wahkiakum has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 209.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pomeroy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 277.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
