Soccer Game Preview: Lakeview vs. Mattawan

The Lakeview Spartans will take on the Mattawan Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Monday just wasn't the day for Lakeview's offense. They fell 2-0 to Portage Central on Monday.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Mattawan was not quite Gull Lake's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for Mattawan seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Lakeview's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3-3. As for Mattawan, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4-3.

Lakeview came out on top in a nail-biter against Mattawan in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
