Baseball Recap: St. Monica Finds Playoff Glory Versus Shadow Hills

With a playoff win on the line, St. Monica rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Shadow Hills Knights by a score of 4-1. The victory was nothing new for the Mariners as they're now sitting on four straight.

Julian Salcedo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nick Wisot, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

St. Monica pushed their record up to 15-12 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Shadow Hills, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-16 record.

As of now, neither St. Monica nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
