Softball Game Preview: SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars vs. Greene Central Rams

The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Greene Central Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for SouthWest Edgecombe and 28 for Greene Central dating back to last season.

It was a proper cat-fight when SouthWest Edgecombe duked it out with Farmville Central on Friday. SouthWest Edgecombe lost 8-1 to Farmville Central.

SouthWest Edgecombe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Iyera Winstead, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Greene Central came up short against North Pitt on Thursday, falling 22-3.

Brooke Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Anna Medlin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

SouthWest Edgecombe's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Greene Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything went SouthWest Edgecombe's way against Greene Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as SouthWest Edgecombe made off with a 17-1 win. Will SouthWest Edgecombe repeat their success, or does Greene Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
