Basketball Recap: Weskan Takes a Loss

Weskan has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Logan/Palco. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their loss to Logan/Palco from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Weskan still got an impressive performance from Trey Allen, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. The game was Allen's 30th in a row with at least ten points. Nick Cottrell was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Weskan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Logan/Palco only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Logan/Palco's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rhett Kats, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Kats has scored at least a third of Logan/Palco's points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Sparks, who went 8 of 11 en route to 18 points.

Weskan's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Logan/Palco, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Weskan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-28 win against Bethune on the 21st. As for Logan/Palco, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. The timing is sure in Logan/Palco's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Northern Valley has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
