Basketball Recap: Tarpon Springs Takes a Loss

Tarpon Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Largo Packers, falling 46-9. The match marked the Spongers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Hailey Johnson was Tarpon Springs' leading scorer, having posted four points. Lexi Cipollini held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Largo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ana Leka, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and five blocks. Those five blocks gave Leka a new career-high. Amel Wright was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.

Tarpon Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Largo, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-8.

Tarpon Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-22 defeat against Central on the 16th. Largo has also already played their next game, a 48-31 victory against Boca Ciega on the 16th.
