Softball Recap: Charles J. Colgan Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

Charles J. Colgan came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Freedom Eagles. For the Sharks, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Dorsey Grose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charles J. Colgan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Weaver, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was Weaver's first of the season.

Charles J. Colgan's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.
