Basketball Recap: Ennis Lions vs. Midlothian Panthers
Ennis lost against Midlothian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ennis Lions took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midlothian Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 658th, while the Panthers are ranked 120th).
JACOB ALMODOVAR was his usual excellent self, putting up 14 points and three steals for Midlothian. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Mason, who posted six points and six boards.
Ennis has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season. As for Midlothian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ennis Lions duke it out with the Terrell Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Ennis is facing Terrell at the right time seeing as Terrell is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Midlothian, they will head out to take on Red Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Red Oak has won nine straight at home, while Midlothian won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
