Basketball Recap: Dixie County Comes Up Short

Dixie County lost against Chiefland back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Dixie County Bears were dealt a 67-33 loss at the hands of the Chiefland Indians. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Indians are ranked 191st).

Chiefland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nyasia Bivins, who posted 19 points along with seven boards and three steals. The contest was Bivins' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bell, who had 14 points and five steals.

Dixie County's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Chiefland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Dixie County will square off against Branford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chiefland has already played their next match (against Bronson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
