Clover took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fort Mill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Clover came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Mill on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. While the Blue Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Christian Soder looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carson Politsch, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Clover's record is now 6-4. As for Fort Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Clover will take on rival Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clover 3.9, Northwestern 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Fort Mill is set to square off against their familiar foe Rock Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
