Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Holy Cross can now relate to. They lost 68-45 to the St. Francis Episcopal Wolves on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 549th, while the Wolves are ranked 40th).

St. Francis Episcopal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Hodge led the charge by dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Hodge has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. O'Marion Harvey was another key player, going 7-for-12 en route to 17 points and six boards.

Holy Cross' loss dropped their record down to 18-15. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season.

Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they will take on Geneva at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. St. Francis Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 games -- so hopefully Geneva likes a good challenge.
