Softball Game Preview: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

The Jim Thorpe Olympians will take on the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jim Thorpe has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with nine straight defeats, while Northwestern Lehigh will come in with 14 straight wins.

Jim Thorpe is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Palmerton on Monday. They came up short against the Blue Bombers, falling 13-2. That's two games in a row now that the Olympians have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwestern Lehigh). They were the clear victors by a 25-2 margin over Catasauqua on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Northwestern Lehigh pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jim Thorpe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
