Football Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

Northwood was the 20-12 winner over Aliso Niguel when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Timberwolves had to suffer through a 42-3 loss at the hands of the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Wolverines are ranked 154th).

Dylan D'Epifanio threw for 100 yards on nine of 25 attempts. Noah Green was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards.

It was another big night for Carter Vestermark, who threw for 285 yards and four TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards for Aliso Niguel. Vestermark is becoming a predictor of the Wolverines' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another big playmaker for Aliso Niguel was Dane Malloy, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Northwood now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Aliso Niguel, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Northwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 34-28 loss against Orange on the 17th. As for Aliso Niguel, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-20 defeat against Laguna Beach on the 17th.
