Basketball Recap: Reese Holman Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sandalwood

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ribault, Mandarin was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Sandalwood Saints by a score of 41-34. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-33 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mandarin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reese Holman, who posted 14 points. Serenity Bustos was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the loss, Sandalwood still got an impressive performance from Jahkyra Rodman, who scored 16 points. Rodman is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kirsten Gudmalin, who put up eight points.

The victory got Mandarin back to even at 8-8. As for Sandalwood, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Mandarin has already played their next contest, a 73-23 win against Wolfson on the 23rd. As for Sandalwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-43 loss against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on the 27th.
