Baseball Recap: Damascus' Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Damascus had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They never let the Gaithersburg Trojans get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The two-run effort marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Damascus got a great performance from Ryan Mungra as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Mungra has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Damascus' win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Gagen, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Gagen has posted since back in March.

Damascus' victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Gaithersburg, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Damascus will head out on the road to take on Magruder at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Gaithersburg, they will take on Churchill on Tuesday.
