Baseball Recap: Carlisle County Comets vs. St. Mary Vikings

After flying high against Hickman County on Thursday, Carlisle County came back down to earth. The Comets fell 9-4 to the St. Mary Vikings on Friday. The Comets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Carlisle County got a good showing from Cooper Wright, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Wright has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Carlisle County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lawsin Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Carlisle County's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for St. Mary, their record now sits at 15-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlisle County will venture away from home to challenge Fulton County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pilots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.4 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Mary, they are taking a road trip to take on Paducah Tilghman at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
