Basketball Recap: Chloe Pelster Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Mullen won the last time they faced Holy Family and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mullen Mustangs were the clear victor by a 52-32 margin over the Holy Family Tigers. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.

Mullen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chloe Pelster, who posted 13 points. That's the most points Pelster has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryker Thomas, who earned ten points and eight rebounds.

Mullen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Holy Family's loss came despite strong showings from Gracie Ward and Enyiah Contreraz. Ward put up 17 points and three steals, while Contreraz had eight points and four steals. Elli Nugent also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Mullen's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Holy Family, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Mullen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-44 victory against Roosevelt on the 16th. Holy Family has also already played their next match, a 58-48 win against Silver Creek on the 17th.
