Baseball Recap: Rejoice Christian Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Rejoice Christian took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Oklahoma Union, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Cougars 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Cougars back in March, they had to take a 10-1 defeat.

Tristan Willis and Caleb Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Willis struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Hall tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave Willis a new career-high. At bat, Willis scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Hall scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Willis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micah Walker, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Rejoice Christian is 2-1 when Walker posts two or more runs, but 9-13 otherwise. Callen Duncan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Rejoice Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

Rejoice Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Oklahoma Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rejoice Christian will take on Aspire HomeSchool at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oklahoma Union, they will head out to face off against Sequoyah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
