Softball Game Preview: Kirtland Central Broncos vs. East Mountain Timberwolves

The Kirtland Central Broncos will take on the East Mountain Timberwolves in a tournament on Saturday. Kirtland Central has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kirtland Central's tournament run continued when they took on Albuquerque Academy on Friday. Kirtland Central fell 13-8 to Albuquerque Academy.

Tamirra Chee was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Elania Hosteen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Chee wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Kirtland Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, East Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Santa Fe, falling 24-4.

East Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Kirtland Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
