Baseball Recap: Rowland Comes Up Short

Rowland extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 10-10. They lost 10-0 to the Northview Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 10th.

As for Northview, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-13. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Northview's part, Michael Mendoza made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mendoza also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northview is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-13 otherwise. Mendoza was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Levi Rosales looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northview is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaime Gallardo, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Northview: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jayden Chagollan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rowland beat Northview by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday.
