Baseball Game Preview: Independence Falcons vs. Bakersfield Drillers

For the second straight game, Independence will face off against Bakersfield. The Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Drillers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Independence took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bakersfield, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 11th.

For Bakersfield's part, Noah Medrano was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Medrano has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Josiah Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Caleb Singh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bakersfield is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-23-1. As for Independence, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-12.
