Basketball Recap: Wade Hampton Generals vs. Laurens Raiders
The Wade Hampton Generals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Laurens as Wade Hampton made off with a 70-47 win. Given Wade Hampton's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Raiders are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Laurens had strong showings from Zoe Young, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Nyri Allen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Destiny Anderson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Wade Hampton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Laurens, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Eastside the next time they take the court. Laurens will host Eastside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Wade Hampton will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
