Softball Game Preview: Homer-Center Wildcats vs. Purchase Line Red Dragons

Homer-Center is a perfect 10-0 against Purchase Line since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will face off against the Red Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Purchase Line took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Homer-Center, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Homer-Center faced off against United last Tuesday. The Wildcats never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Bekah Marshall made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kyhlee Beer was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ava King was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Purchase Line has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.83 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against West Shamokin, falling 11-4. The match marked the Red Dragons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kaitlyn Houser was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Homer-Center now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Purchase Line, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Everything went Homer-Center's way against Purchase Line when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Homer-Center made off with an 18-0 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
