Football Preview: Lake Havasu Knights vs. Youngker Roughriders

The Lake Havasu Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Youngker Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Lake Havasu came up short against Mohave and fell 33-20. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Lake Havasu wouldn't let Mohave keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Lake Havasu can thank Nic Corona and Wyatt Tribolet for forcing both of them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Youngker). They strolled past Marcos de Niza with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 39-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Roughriders.

It was another big night for Isaiah Hargrove, who rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Garcia, who threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Youngker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 310 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lake Havasu fell to 2-1. As for Youngker, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

We should be in store for an exciting game as both have no problem gaining yardage. Lake Havasu has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 369.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Youngker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 355.2. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.

Lake Havasu took a serious blow against Youngker when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 41-13. Can Lake Havasu avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
