Basketball Game Preview: Falkner Eagles vs. Wheeler Eagles

Falkner hasn't had much luck against Wheeler recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Falkner took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ashland 66-27. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went Wheeler's way against Hickory Flat on Friday as Wheeler made off with a 64-43 win.

Falkner's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Wheeler, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Falkner was dealt a bruising 65-38 defeat at the hands of Wheeler in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Falkner was down 37-16.
