Softball Recap: Daniel Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Daniel challenged Seneca on Tuesday. The Lions took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Addy Fraser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Hedlund-Hoover, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Caroline Brownlee was another, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Daniel's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Seneca, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Daniel is set to face off against their familiar foe Berea at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Seneca will take on rival Blue Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bobcats 3.5, the Tigers 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
