Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds vs. Tradition Prep Pirates

The Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds will head out to face off against the Tradition Prep Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Lincoln Park Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 57 points back in December of 2024, they were much more limited against Pine on Tuesday. They fell 42-29 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 666th, while the Knights are ranked 309th).

Despite their loss, Lincoln Park Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jared Young, who posted four points and eight boards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Haazim Marjan, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Lincoln Park Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Tradition Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Westwood on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 82-76 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Tradition Prep's win came from a few key players Lincoln Park Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Avery Johnson, who went 11 of 21 on his way to 36 points. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydan Fields, who went 9 of 10 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds.

Tradition Prep pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Lincoln Park Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Lincoln Park Academy was dealt a bruising 69-31 loss at the hands of Tradition Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lincoln Park Academy was down 48-14.
