Baseball Recap: First Coast Comes Up Short

First Coast was the 3-0 winner over Fleming Island when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The First Coast Buccaneers fell 11-7 to the Fleming Island Golden Eagles on Monday.

Shane Clayton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Zach Sandell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

First Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Fleming Island, their record now sits at 2-5.

First Coast wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-0 loss against Nease on the 4th. As for Fleming Island, they are taking a road trip to take on Middleburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering Middleburg has lost three straight at home and Fleming Island six straight on the road (dating back to last season), this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.
