Recap: Stranahan Mighty Dragons vs. Miramar Patriots
The Stranahan Mighty Dragons waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 56-47 win over Miramar. Given Stranahan's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Miramar is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stranahan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Yeargin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Esron Simeon, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Miramar lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joshua Skinner, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah Jean-Charles, who scored 13 points along with four blocks.
Stranahan pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Miramar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
Stranahan's road trip will continue as they head out to face Boyd Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. As for Miramar, they will be playing at home against Cooper City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cooper City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Miramar likes a good challenge.
