The St. Petersburg Green Devils will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
St. Petersburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Dunedin to the tune of 77-25 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Green Devils brought their scoring average up to 53.8 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Petersburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaw Summer, who almost dropped a triple-double with 15 points, 12 boards, and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Summer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quay Curry, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 11 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: St. Petersburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sunlake entered their tilt with Wiregrass Ranch on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bulls, posting a 66-39 win. That looming 66-39 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Seahawks yet this season.
Sunlake found their leader in sophomore Jessi Saffold, who went 6-for-14 en route to 16 points and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cherity Powells, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Sunlake's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for St. Petersburg, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. Petersburg has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Sunlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
St. Petersburg barely slipped by Sunlake when the teams last played back in January, winning 66-65. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Seahawks' Kaycie Hyde, who earned 19 points and seven steals.
