Basketball Game Preview: Coastal Brigade vs. Gramercy Christian Warriors

Coastal Brigade are taking a road trip to face off against the Gramercy Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Coastal Brigade is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Liberty Christian Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Coastal Brigade was beaten by Liberty Christian Academy 67-17. Coastal Brigade was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Meanwhile, Gramercy Christian ended up a good deal behind New Bern Christian Academy on Tuesday and lost 53-34. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while New Bern Christian Academy are ranked 162nd).

Coastal Brigade will need focus on slowing down Malachi Tribble, one of several Gramercy Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego De Hoyos, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

This is the second loss in a row for Coastal Brigade and nudges their season record down to 5-11. As for Gramercy Christian, their record now sits at 7-12.

Coastal Brigade was taken down by Gramercy Christian 73-34 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gramercy Christian's Luke Bowling, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and four steals.
