Maxwell Messa leads Clearwater Central Catholic to victory over Northside Christian

Winning is just a little bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders proved on Thursday. They blew past Northside Christian 63-37. The win made it back-to-back wins for Clearwater Central Catholic.

Maxwell Messa continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Lenhardt, who scored 15 points along with three steals.

Despite the defeat, Northside Christian saw an underclassman step up: Elijah Ahlers dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Ahlers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.

Clearwater Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Northside Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Clearwater Central Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Admiral Farragut at 3:15 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Admiral Farragut focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Northside Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shorecrest Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Shorecrest Prep is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.3 points per game.
