Football Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Comes Up Short

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-7. They were dealt a 52-3 defeat at the hands of the Economedes Jaguars. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

As for Economedes, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.9 points on average this season.

It was another big night for Johan Nunez, who rushed for 145 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 124 rushing yards. Carlos Garcia was in the mix as well, providing Economedes with two scores.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will square off against rival Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. Meanwhile, Economedes is set to face off against their familiar foe Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Jaguars 14.9, the Bobcats 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
