Baseball Recap: Marion Comes Up Short

Marion suffered their biggest defeat since April 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 18-2 to the Triad Knights. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Triad, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-5.

Marion and Triad should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Wildcats will face off against Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (63 vs. 204). Meanwhile, Triad (ranked fourth) will meet Belleville East (ranked 66th) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 2.4, the Lancers 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
