Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Mountaineers vs. Strasburg Rams

The Madison County Mountaineers will head out to square off against the Strasburg Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Madison County came up short against Luray and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, Strasburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 61-56 to Luray.

Strasburg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Madison County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season.

Madison County beat Strasburg 57-50 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
