Football Game Preview: Stansbury Stallions vs. Mountain Crest Mustangs + Official Tickets

Stansbury and Mountain Crest are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2017, but not for long. The Stallions will take on the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Stansbury had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 50-point drubbing they dealt Deseret Peak two weeks ago. The Stallions took their game with ease, bagging a 56-6 win over the Golden Eagles. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 56-0.

Brighton Reutzel produced another solid performance throwing for 231 yards and six TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes. Those six passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. A healthy portion of Reutzel's aerial production (88 yards to be exact) went to Boston Rowley, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Stansbury proved: they limited Deseret Peak to a paltry 0.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Noah Syphus for the heroic effort on defense: he. Stansbury didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.

Stansbury's defense didn't let Eli Overman, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Syphus.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mountain Crest walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 54-7 victory over the Utes. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Stansbury's record is now 8-2. As for Mountain Crest, their record now sits at 8-3.

Stansbury came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain Crest in their previous matchup back in September, sneaking past 28-26. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
